Frequently
Asked Questions

Which courses are included in the Officer Refresher Package?

The Officer Refresher Package includes the required STCW updating courses for officer revalidation, specifically:
PST (Personal Survival Techniques), FPFF (Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting), Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF), and PSCRB (Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats).
An FRB (Fast Rescue Boat) refresher can be added at checkout if required by your vessel, flag state, or employer.

Is the Officer Refresher Package MCA-compliant?

Yes. All refresher courses within the package comply with MCA standards and STCW 2010 Manila Amendments, ensuring continued international recognition.

What if one of my certificates has been expired for a long time?

If a certificate has been expired beyond standard limits or you lack recent sea service, additional training may be required. Admissions will confirm whether standard updating is sufficient or if extended options apply.

How important is English for Officer Refreshers?

English is essential — both written and spoken. You must complete written exams in English and communicate clearly during practical and scenario-based assessments.

Does this package renew my Certificate of Competency?

No. The Officer Refresher Package supports training revalidation only. Final CoC revalidation is processed through the MCA and depends on sea service and application approval.

How do I confirm eligibility before booking?

You should submit copies of your current certificates and sea service records to Admissions while booking the course. This ensures the correct refresher pathway and avoids unnecessary courses.
