3,000 nautical miles logged on genuine cruises or passages (not short day trips)
At least 2,000 miles must be on coastal voyages (not ocean crossings)
Minimum 50 days on board at sea (a day = 24 hours)
Minimum 30 hours of night watch underway, with at least 6 hours as captain/watch leader
Working understanding of Collision Regulations and basic paper chart coastal navigation
VHF or Radio Operator Certificate
Candidates without a VHF SRC certificate can study online and take the exam during the MoY course (additional fees apply)
Adequate experience at the helm of a sailboat or twin-screw power vessel
Sea time must be verified and signed by the vessel’s skipper (self-signed entries require independent confirmation)
Valid physical/medical certificate including eyesight and color vision test
Valid MCA-approved STCW 2010 Basic Training certificates are required before the Certificate of Competency can be issued
Candidates without valid STCW can update or complete the full course alongside MoY training (additional fees apply)

This is a preparation course, not a certification course. It does not issue a Certificate of Competency. Instead, it prepares you academically and practically to confidently undertake the IYT Master of Yachts 200GT Limited (Power) course.
The course is taught by an International Yacht Training–certified instructor who also holds the Master Mariner qualification. Galileo Maritime Academy is the only training centre in the Asia-Pacific region offering MoY preparation delivered at this level.
