Frequently
Asked Questions

Which certificates are included in the Officer Package?

The Officer Package includes the required advanced STCW certificates for officer-level duties, specifically:

  • Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF)
  • Medical First Aid (MFA)
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB)

These courses are bundled into a single, structured officer-training pathway in line with MCA / STCW requirements. Booking the Officer Package is more cost-effective than purchasing the same courses individually and simplifies training planning and scheduling.

Is the Officer Package MCA-approved?

Yes. All courses within the Officer Package are delivered in accordance with MCA requirements and comply with STCW 2010 Manila Amendments, ensuring international recognition and acceptance by flag states and employers.

Are there exams within the Officer Package?

Yes. Each course within the package includes written examinations and practical assessments as required by the MCA. Exams are scenario-based and focused on officer-level decision-making and responsibility.

Can I fail part of the Officer Package?

If you do not meet the required standard in a specific course or module, you may take a resit for that element. Instructors will clearly explain what needs improvement before reassessment.

How important is English for the Officer Package?

English is critical — both written and verbal. Officer-level training requires clear communication, accurate reporting, and successful completion of written exams in English.

Does the Officer Package replace an MCA Certificate of Competency?

No. The Officer Package provides the required training elements, but it does not itself constitute an MCA Certificate of Competency. Additional sea service, exams, and application processes are required through the MCA.

Is this package suitable for yachts and commercial vessels?

Yes. The Officer Package is applicable to commercial yachts, ships, offshore vessels, and support vessels, subject to the specific CoC pathway you are pursuing.

How do I know if this package is right for me?

Admissions will review your existing certificates, sea service, and career goals to confirm whether the Officer Package matches your intended progression and avoids unnecessary training.
